Kochi: The Special Investigation Team (SIT), probing the Sabarimala temple gold scam, is believed to have seized over key evidence containing details of gold cladding carried out by businessman Vijay Mallya in the temple in 1999, media reports said.
The SIT unearthed the documents after the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) expressed helplessness in detecting the papers which the TDB said could have perished due to passage of time.
The documents are likely to help the SIT to establish the amount of gold used by Mallya for gold cladding in the temple.
The SIT is questioning one Sudheesh Kumar who was the Executive Officer of the TDB. Suspended TDB official and second accused Murari Babu is under police custody while the prime accused Unnikrishnan Potti is likely to be taken into police custody after making a prayer in this regard before the Court.
