“Tharoor all set to quit”

Kochi: Congress leader Shashi Tharoor’s historic demand of Chief Minister’s post if his front is voted to power appears to be a well planned excuse to bid adieu to the party, political analysts said.
Never in the history of the Congress had any leader made such a demand in Kerala where the Congress is a formidable force, albeit it has lost its sheen of late due to the right wing polarisation.
Even no one in other parties have made such a condition to continue in the party.
Seeking assurance for Chief Minister’s post when other contenders are sweating it out to corner the other is funny.
Tharoor’s remarks glorifying Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s US visit and the Congress leader’s praise of his party’s arch rival LDF for its industrial policy were the groundwork to script the drama.
The Congress central leadership’s decision to reject his demands was obvious as the party which made him what he is today in politics could smell his intentions to shift affinity.
It appears crystal clear that Tharoor is eyeing to hop to the BJP led front. It all started sometime now since the BJP was voted back to power for the second time in 2019.
Tharoor’s decision to contest against the official candidate for party presidency was his first move of breaching party discipline.
Since Tharoor’s demand will not at all be acceptable to the CPM led front, it can only sell in the BJP camp where there is
let up in factionalism which had forced Sandeep Warrier to quit BJP and join Congress, they said.
