Kochi: Directorate of Enforcement’s (ED) Deputy Director P Radhakrishnan has been fired from service due to allegations including bribery, media reports said.
The Finance Ministry showed him the door after an internal probe into the allegations proved genuine.
Radhakrishnan, an officer hailing from Kerala, investigated the sensational diplomatic gold smuggling case in 2020 when Kerala Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary M Sivasankar was arrested. Radhakrishnan was working as a Deputy Director in Jammu and Kashmir when is shunted out of service. The internal probe against Radhakrishnan was conducted by the Finance Department. Radhakrishnan is an officer who had investigated several major cases, including the diplomatic gold smuggling case. Allegations had emerged that attempts were made to reach an out-of-court settlement during later stages of the investigation. The BJP had also raised similar accusations.
