Kochi: Onam celebrations in Kerala Legislative Assembly were hit by a tragedy when a 46 m-year-old reveler Junais collapsed and died in the middle of the events on Monday, media reports said.
V Junais, who was the deputy Librarian, was rushed to the General hospital where he died.
A resident of Vazhayil House, Karthika Housing Colony, Batheri in Wayanad, Junaid became sick at about 3.20 pm during the cultural programmes.
Junais was part of an 11-member dance group.
Junais joined the Legislative Assembly in 2011 as a Catalogue Assistant. Before that, he worked as a librarian at IHRD and had also served as Personal Assistant to MLA P V Anwar. He was staying at the Harihar Nagar quarters in Nandankodu.
His wife, K P Raseena is a temporary teacher at IHRD School) and children Najad Abdulla and Nihad Abdulla are students.
Junais’s team came third place in the Athapookkalam (floral mat) competition and won the tug-of-war event.
