Kochi: Search was intensified to nab the killer of conservative activist and influential Trump ally Charlie Kirk, 31, who was shot dead at a university in Utah, Times of India reported.
Kirk’s death was first announced by Trump in a Truth Social post.
Trump ordered that American flags be lowered to half-staff until Sunday evening.
President Trump expressed grief and anger at the “heinous assassination”, describing it a “dark moment for America”.
Officials believe Kirk was shot from a roof.
Kirk, who founded conservative group Turning Point USA aged 18, was close to the president and his family.
Kirk was on the university campus in Orem for the first stop of his “American Comeback Tour,” where he planned to speak with students about conservative politics and take questions.
He was speaking under a tent when he was hit in the neck by a bullet. He was taken to a hospital and later pronounced dead.
