Koch: Uncertainty continued in the rescue of 41 workers trapped in the Silkyara tunnel in Uttarakhand for the last 15 days, media reports said.
The failure of the US made Auger machine used for horizontal drilling has made the authorities of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to look for vertical drilling, the reports said.
The auger machine stopped functioning while drilling through the debris after hitting an obstacle on Friday.
The workers are believed to be stuck about 85 metres below. The rescuers have managed to dig up to a depth of 47 meters.
An international tunneling expert said it might take more time to rescue the workers. He said that top priority should be given to the safety of the workers, the reports said.
