Kochi: A youth Iyyadan Shanid, 28, died after swallowing two packets of narcotics material MDMA to escape from police in Kerala’s Kozhikode.on Friday, media reports quoting police said.
The youth was taken into police custody on March 7 morning after he was suspected of carrying MDMA.
Police sources said he swallowed two zip covers filled with the drug immediately on seeing them and tried to run away from the spot.
Shanid was taken to Kozhikode Medical College where scans conducted on him showed two small packets and some particles.
Soon his condition worsened and he died.
Officials said a probe is underway and the body will be sent for postmortem.
