Kochi: A CBI Special Court on Saturday convicted 14 persons including former Uduma MLA K V Kunjuraman of CPM in the killing of two youth Congress leaders in Periya in 2019, media reports said.
Six of the convicted were important CPM leaders. The court acquitted 10 accused as the prosecution failed to prove their complicity in the case.
The court will pronounce the verdict om January 3.
The case was handed over to the CBI by the Kerala High Court on the basis of the prayers made by the parents of the victims.
The state government’s plea opposing the CBI probe was rejected by the Kerala High Court and the Supreme Court.
