7 MPs suspended

Kochi: Seven Congress MPs were among the eight members suspended from the Lok Sabha for the Budget session for sloganeering and strewing torn paper bits in the Well of the House.
Those suspended were Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, Gurdeep Singh Aujla, Hibi Eden, Dean Kuriakose, Prashant Padole, Kiran Kumar Reddy, Manickam Tagore and S Venkataraman of CPM.
The suspension was based on the list submitted by Union Parliamentary Minister Kiren Rijiju after the Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi insisted on reading out an unpublished memoir.
After the House was adjourned thrice, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, moved a resolution at around 3 pm seeking suspension of the MPs.
The resolution was passed by a voice vote.
“The members acted in utter disregard of the House and the authority of the Chair. They tore papers and threw them at the Chair and were named by the Chair for their behaviour,” Rijiju said while moving the resolution.
