Kochi: The arrest of terror suspects in West Bengal on Sunda has armed the BJP to accuse the Trinamool Congress of failing to maintain Law and Order in the state, media reports said.
Javed Munshi, the alleged operative, of the Tehreek-e-Mujahideen was arrested in a joint operation by the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the West Bengal Special Task Force at Canning in South 24 Parganas in Bengal on Sunday.
A few days back the West Bengal Police and Assam Police had arrested Minarul Sheikh (48) and Md. Abbas Ali (29) of suspected Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) from Murshidabad.
The arrest was part of a joint operation by the Assam Police where eight operatives of the ABT were held.
Dismissing BJP charges, senior Trinamul Congress leader Firhad Hakim claimed that the arrest was made by state police due its the government’s zero tolerance against extremists.
Hakim, who is Kolkata Mayor said that it was the Centre to strengthen the border to prevent unauthorized entry of infiltrators into the country.
West Bengak BJP president Sukanata Majumdar accused the State government of not allocating land for erecting border fences.
BJP leader Amit Malviya alleged that the arrested ABT operatives held voter ID cards of two separate constituencies of the state.
“This incident is just the tip of the iceberg. Illegal infiltrators obtaining voting rights have become a significant part of the TMC’s voter base…,” Malviya said on social media.
