Kochi: Controversial leader P V Anwar, MLA, in Kerala, joined the All India Trinamool Congress (AITUC) which is in power in West Bengal today.
National General Secretary AITUC Abhishek Bannerjee gave the membership to Anwar who fell out with Kerala CPM Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and quit the Left coalition in Kerala making serious allegations against the Chief Minister’s office.
Anwar, who is also a businessman, accused Pinarayi’s political secretary P Sasi and MR Ajit Kumar, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Law and Order, of having links with gold smugglers.
Anwar had accused ADGP Ajit Kumar of tapping phones of ministers and legislators.
Anvar also submitted a complaint to the party against Sasi accusing him of embezzling the gold smuggled via Kozhikode International Airport through police.
He also accused Sasi of misbehaving with women who visited the CMO with their grievances. Sasi, a powerful figure in the CPI(M), was suspended from the party in 2011 following a complaint of sexual assault by a woman party colleague.
In 2019, he was re-inducted to the party and in April 2022, he was chosen as Kerala CM’s political secretary.
The MLA also mentioned that he would approach the High Court to seek an investigation into the alleged criminal nexus involving Ajith Kumar and Sasi.
