Kochi: India’s entry into the finals of the ICC championship 2025 has snatched host Pakistan’s opportunity to conduct the finals which will be held in Dubai, media reports said.
Today’s second semi finals between New Zealand and South Africa at Gaddafi stadium will be the last match to be played in Pakistan in the championship.
India defeated Australia in the semifinal with a four-wicket victory in Dubai on Tuesday.
Since India refused to play in Pakistan citing security reasons, the championship was organisined in a hybrid format with India playing its matches in Dubai instead of the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, Pakistan.
Indian fans are trolling Pakistan on social media, making fun of the hosts missing their own party.
India became the first team to qualify for the Champions Trophy final for a third consecutive time. They will now take on the winner of the second semi-final between South Africa and New Zealand in Dubai on March 9.
“Gaddafi Stadium knocked out of the Champions Trophy,” said a fan in a post on X, formerly Twitter.
Pakistan were knocked out of the tournament in the league stage after losing to New Zealand and India in their first two matches.
“Host Pakistan Can’t Host Champions Trophy 2025 Final In Pakistan. Thank You Kohli For Cooking Pakistan Again,” wrote another fan.
Pakistan had failed to win a single match and even three of the league matches were washed out by rain.
Many fans also poked fun at Pakistan for spending Pakistani Rs 1,280 crore for upgrading stadiums.
