Customs file chargesheet Dollar case

Kochi: Kerala Chief Minister’s former principal secretary M Sivasankar has been made sixth accused in the Dollar smuggling case. An amount of Rs 1 crore seized from the locker of another accused Swapna Suresh was the bribe money received by Sivasankar in the Life Mission housing scam, the chargesheet filed by the Customs said. Swapna Suresh’s allegations that she smuggled dollars for the Chief Minister are also there in the chargesheet. Sivasankar is also accused of leaking the state intelligence reports to Swapna Suresh who is also an accused in the case. He is also accused of knowing everything about the bribery and conversion of the money into dollars for smuggling under the cover of the UAE consulate, it said.

Former UAE diplomat Khalid Mohammad Ali Shoukri, who was terminated by the UAE government for misappropriations with Swapna Suresh, is the first accused. Sarith, Swapna Suresh, Sandeep Nair, Unitac owner Santosh Eapen are the other accused in the case. Sivasankar who was under suspension for about 17 months has since resumed duties.
