Kochi: Kerala High Court has directed those arrested for unleashing violence and causing destruction during the illegal hartal to pay Rs 5.20 crore to getting bails.
The court ruled that the amount should be paid in two weeks failing which the amount be recovered by attaching the properties of the accused, media reports said.
The losses suffered by the state, including those by the debt-ridden KSRTC, were derived by the Kerala government.
The court also ordered to register cases against A Abdul Sathar who was the General Secretary of the banned Popular Front of India.
The High Court had taken suo motu case against the sponsors of hartal violating the court order of giving one week notice before calling a hartal.
