Toddler unites with mother

Kochi: Over one year after being illegally deprived from their new born son, Anupama  Chandran and her partner Ajith were united with their son at Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday.

The legal union was made possible after the Family Court, Thiruvananthapuram passed the relevant order restoring Anupama, her child fathered by Ajith who was still married to another woman.

Anupama went on a massive campaign against the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) and Kerala State Council for Child Welfare (KSCCW) after failing to get the possession of her son.

With the intervention of the media, the government was forced to order a departmental probe into the issue by Director of Woman and Child Welfare department T V Anupama.
The departmental enquiry found fault with
CWC and KSCCW.

The report was submitted to the Family Court and the government which took steps to bring the child back to Kerala from his foster parents in Andhra Pradesh and conduct a DNA test.

The test conducted found the child belonged to Anupama. Now it remains to be seen if the law would take its own course against the culprits.

However, Anupama has reiterated her resolution to intensify her fight seeking action against the Child Welfare Committee chairperson Sunanda and KSCCW General Secretary Shiju Khan.
