Kochi: Thodupuzha Soccer School has won the Outstanding Youth Club Award for the year 2022-23 given by Nehru Yuva Kendra.
The award, containing Rs 25,000 and a plaque, was given by district collector Sheeba George.
Idukki Sub collector Dr Arun S Nair, Nehru Yuva Kendra district youth officer Sachin H were present. The award is aimed at encouraging institutions to take up activities for social uplift.
Sports play a key role in cutting the barrier of cast, creed, religion and others in uniting the citizens.
Thodupuzha Soccer School is one such outfit engaged in organising camps for blood donation, de-addiction, sports for differently-abled students, physical training and physiological boosting, agriculture among others.
The school is looking to spot tribal children and groom their talent in sports and other areas. They will be given education, food and accommodation, a press release of the school said.
Support of those engaged in the field of film, arts, culture, law medicine, law enforcement, trade, politics has helped the soccer school to increase its activities in nation building.
