Kochi: Jins K Joby of St Ephremes Higher Secondary School, Mannanam, will represent the country at the South Asian Basketball Association (SABA) qualifiers in Sri Lanka from August 28.
Maldives, Sri Lanka are the other two teams participating in the event which will pick the qualifiers for the Under-16 FIBA Asia Cup at Qatar beginning from September 17.
The Qatar event assumes significance as the qualifiers will be decided by it for the FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup to be held at Turkey from 29 June to 7 July, 2024.
Jins had represented Kerala at the Youth Nationals at Indore in 2022.
Selection of Jins has added another feather to the cap of CMI institution and Ephrems Sports Academy, Mannanam and coaches Premkumar V M, Dimal C Mathew (Sports Council ) Aji Thomas, Director Fr Antony Kanjirathinkal.
