Kochi: A British couple who came to India as tourists were sent back for violating tourists visa provisions by sticking posters backing Palestine in Rajasthan, NDTV reported.
Lewis Gabriel D and his girlfriend, Anushi Emma Christine, were interrogated by police who found out they were engaged in political activities violating provisions of tourist visas. The British, on a visit to Pushkar, were interrogated by a team led by Additional Superintendent of Police (CID) Rajesh Meena. Action was taken under the Immigration and Foreigners Act, and the visas of both the foreign nationals were revoked, and a “Leave India Notice” was issued to them.
Foreign nationals involved in such cases may face detention and the initiation of deportation proceedings.
They may also face the bar them from future entry into India.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to visit Israel in February.
