Kochi: LDF Convener E P Jayarajan of CPM was booked under attempt to murder and other charges while attacking two Youth Congress leaders for shouting slogans against Kerala Chief Minister on board an aircraft recently.
Other charges registered against Jayarajan by the Valiyathura Police as per a court directive are under IPC 308, 307, 506.
As the police were not willing to register a case against Jayarajan, the Youth Congress leaders Naveen and Farzeen moved the Thiruvananthapuram Judicial First Class Magistrate’s Court which directed the police to register an FIR against Jayarajan.
Cases were also registered against Chief Minister’s gunman Anil Kumar and personal staff member Suneesh for attacking the Youth Congress leaders.
The FIR said that Jayarajan banged Naveen Kumar on his face and tried to kill Farzeen Majeed by smothering him.
The Indigo airlines had issued a travel ban against the congressmen for two weeks and on Jayarajan for three weeks.
The protests are happening against the Chief Minister after an accused in the diplomatic baggage gold smuggling case Swapna Suresh alleged the Chief Minister’s complicity in the case.
