Kochi: A court in Malappuram has convicted three accused in the abduction and murder of a traditional healer Shaba Sheriff to learn the formula of a potent herbal remedy.
The Manjeri First Additional Sessions will announce the sentence on March 22.
Shaibin Ashraf, Shihabudheen, and Nishad were convicted for the abduction and murder of Shaba Sheriff. Nine other accused were acquitted.
According to police, Shaba Sheriff was abducted from Mysuru in August, 2019 and was kept in captivity for over 18 months at Shaibin’s house in Nilambur in Malappuram before the murdered on October 8, 2020.
Sheriff was chopped into pieces and dumped in Chaliyar river. Efforts to
recover parts of his body failed to yield any result. It was a strand of
Sheriff’s hair found in the prime accused’s car that helped to crack the case.
