Rain death toll at 12, rains shift to North

 Kochi: Five people were killed in rain related incidents in Kerala on Tuesday taking the total toll at 12.

Two persons died in landslides in Peravur in Kannur. They were identified as Numa Thazmin and Rajesh. Body of one Riyaz who was missing in Manimala river since yesterday was found in Mundakayam today.
Bodies of Aneesh who was missing in Mulanthuruthi and Poulose in Kothamangalam were retrieved.

Meanwhile, educational institutions in ten districts will remain closed on Wednesday. The districts are Alappuzha, Kozhikode, Thrissur, Ernakulam, Kottayam, Malappuram, Idukki, Palakkad, Pathanamthitta and Wayanad.

There is no change in the examinations which will be held as scheduled.

Ninety Five relief camps have been opened and 2,291 people are accommodated there.
Red alert has been sounded in Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad and Kannur.

Orange alert has been declared in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta and Kasargod. The weather office has predicted heavy rains in Central and North Kerala in the next couple of days.

Those living in hilly areas have been alerted to remain cautious.
