Kochi: An elderly man killed in a fire in the Tata Nagar to Ernakulam Express at Duvvada in Andhra Pradesh in the wee hours of Monday, Hindustan Times reported.
The fire took place in B1 and M2 Air conditioned bogies. The 70-year-old traveller Chandrasekhar Sundar, who was charred to death, was in B1 coach.
According to preliminary information, the fire was noticed by a loco pilot who stopped the train at Yelamanchili.
The blaze spread rapidly gutting the two AC coaches. Railway officials said all other passengers were safe. Firefighting teams from Anakapalli, Elamanchili, and Nakkapalli worked several hours to bring the fire under control.
