Kochi: Police in Italy have arrested nine people accused of raising around €7m for Hamas over two years, BBC reported.
The money, collected as humanitarian aid for Palestinian civilians, was instead sent to the militant group.
Police have seized more than €8m in assets as part of the investigation.
A joint initiative between counter-terror police and financial police led to the arrest.
The investigation began after the 7 October 2023 Hamas attack in southern Israel.
Investigators found a “complex” system of fundraising, which was headquartered in Genoa with branches in Milan, the reports said.
