Kochi: The Kerala High Court on Monday directed to set up a special investigation team (SIT) to probe the alleged irregularities in missing of gold at Sabarimala temple by over 4 kg since 2019.
The SIT would be led by S Sasidharan, SP of Crime Branch, under the supervision of H Venkitesh, Additional DGP. Cyber Police personnel too would be part of the team.
A division bench gave the ruling on the basis of the report submitted by the Travancore Devaswom Board Vigilance seeking a probe into the matter, media reports said.
The Vigilance probe was ordered by the court after misappropriation in the temple came to the notice of the court.
The High Court has also directed that the SIT probe the matter with all confidentiality and that its report be submitted to it directly.
