HC refuses to stay Lok Ayukta order

Kochi: In a major ruling, the Kerala High Court rejected the plea to stay the order of the Lok Ayukta on Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and others in connection with alleged misuse of Disaster Relief Fund (CMDRF).
However, the Division Bench of the court clarified that the court was not dismissing the petition which would be considering on a different day.
The petitioner had challenged two members of Lokayukta’s decision to send the case before the full bench on June 6.
Public activist R S Sasikumar had filed the case in 2018 accusing the government of misusing the CMDRF. The hearing by Lok Ayuktha ended on March 18, 2022.
The Lok Ayuktha had on March 31 delivered its order referring the matter to be considered by a Full Bench.
The case was against the government giving a sum of Rs 25 to the family of late NCP leader Uzhavoor Vijayan, Rs 8.5 lakh to the family of late MLA K K Ramachandran Nair and Rs 20 lakh to the family of a policeman who died in a car accident while on a security duty late CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan.
