Kochi: The ED is carrying out raids in CSI South Kerala diocese which has the office of Bishop A Dharmaraj Rasalam in Thiruvananthapuram in connection with irregularities and corruption in the admission in Dr Somervel memorial medical College on Monday.
Raids were also being conducted in the residences of secretary T T Praveen and former director Dr Bennett Abraham.
Complaints were registered in two police stations against the medical College management for defrauding students seeking medical admission.
The HC in 2020 had cancelled admission of 11 MBBS students for producing fake community certificate issued by the Bishop.
The court had also directed the Admission and Fee Regulatory Committee to act against it. The Police have registered cases in this connection.
Dr Bennett Abraham had contested Lok Sabha election as a CPI nominee against Shashi Tharoor of the Congress in 2014 and came third.
There were widespread allegations against CPI for selling the seat to Abraham.
