India beats England

Kochi: After failing in the first test, India clinched the second Test beating England by a mammoth 336 runs backed by outstanding knocks by skipper Shubhman Gill at Edgbaston in Birmingham on Sunday.
With this win India has tied with the host 1-1 in the five test series. India captain Shubman Gill became the youngest Indian captain to win a Test abroad. Defending a massive target of 608 in the fourth innings, India bowled out England for just 271 runs in 68.1 overs.
On the rain-hit fifth day, England resumed at 72 for 3 chasing 536 runs to win with seven wickets in hand. Gill hit a mammoth 269, while Jaiswal 87 and Jadeja 89 in the first innings in which the visitors made 587.
For the hosts, Bashir took 3 wickets, Tongue and Woakes two each. The host made 407 in first innings in which Smith 184, brook 158.
In second innings too Gill hit 161, Jadeja 69, Pant 65, out of a total of 427. For England Badhir and Tongue took two wickets each.
England failed to match India in the second innings in which they could make only 271 due to outstanding bowing by Akash Deep who claimed 6 wickets.
