Kochi: After four days of tension between India and Pakistan, the two neighbours have agreed to an immediate ceasefire to halt the aggression that started after
terrorist from Pakistan killed 26 tourists in Pahalgam in Kashmir on April 22, BBC reported.
India turned serious as Pakistan denied its role in the attack even as New Delhi had all proof of Islamabad’s involvement in all cross border terrorism happening in India, mainly Jammu and Kashmir.
Claiming that the Pahalgam attack was the escalation element triggered by Pakistan, India went after the terrorists and smashed terror camps in PoK to find a long lasting solution to the menace.
Pakistan retaliated leading to confrontation which came close to a full blown war between the two nuke nations.
The US, China, Arab countries appealed to both nations to stop aggression and come to talk out differences, but things got more aggressive.
The US and UK played a key role in stopping the aggression which was finally announced by the US President Donald Trump on his social media site Truth Social.
Following this political leadership of the two countries agreed to the mediators’ appeal and the Director General of Military Operations of Pakistan called his counterpart in India to end hostilities and talk out differences leading to the ceasefire coming into force.
“The UK Foreign Secretary, David Lammy, played a key role in this process.
