Kochi: Iran has formally invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the funeral ceremonies of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
Iranian President Pezeshkian has invited Modi for the last rites and burial in his birthplace of Mashhad, Times of India reported.
The funeral rites will be held across several Iranian cities from July 4 to July 9 when the rituals will end with the burial of Khamenei in Mashhad, his birthplace and one of Shia Islam’s holiest cities.
Khamenei’s mortal remains will be kept at Tehran’s Grand Mosalla complex on July 4 and 5 for the public to pay their last respects.
