Kochi: Railway passengers continue to face torture in booking tickets through IRCTC on Thursday after Christmas holidays due to a massive outage, tweets posted by public said.
Tweets addressed to the Prime Minister, Railway Minister among others flayed the BJP government’s inability to provide a user-friendly flawless app.
The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), launched during Congress regime over two decades back has fared badly in its performance for the last many years. It was still worse during Congress-led UPA rule.
IRCTC confirmed that the outage was due to maintenance activities. This marks the second time in December that the IRCTC portal has faced a disruption.
IRCTC is also accused of increasing food cost considerably with a fall in quality. Passengers constantly complain about the food provided in premium trains like Vande Bharat. Sugar free tea is not supplied by tea stalls. Sugar is mixed in tea depriving passengers of their right to ensure that the beverage is not adulterated.
