Kochi: Israel said that it had killed two Iranian commanders Saeed Izadi and Behnam Shahriyari on Saturday, BBC reported.
The Israel Defence Force said it had killed Izadi in a strike on an apartment in Qom, south of Tehran and Quds Force commander, Behnam Shahriyari in a drone strike as he was travelling in a car through western Iran.
Israel accused Saeed Izadi of helping Hamas in planning the October 7, 2023 attack on 1,200 people and taking many as hostages.
Iran has not confirmed Izadi’s killing.
Israel accused Izadi was being instrumental in arming and financing Hamas, and had been responsible for military co-ordination between senior Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps’s (IRGC) commanders and Hamas leaders, the IDF said.
Izadi escaped an Israeli air strike in April 2024, targeting the Iranian consulate in Damascus, Syria – an attack that killed several high-ranking Quds Force commanders.
Israel accused Shahriyari of being responsible for transporting missiles and rockets to Iran’s proxy groups including Hamas in Gaza and Hezbollah in Lebanon, said the IDF.
