Kochi: Former Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) members K P Shankardas of CPI and N Vijayakumar of CPM have moved court seeking anticipatory bail in Sabarimala gold robbery cases, media reports said.
The two moved to Kollam Vigilance Court seeking anticipatory bail amidst the High Court of Kerala making observations about SIT sparing the two in the case.
The High Court had recently denied bail to other former TDB officials involved in the case.
Shankardas and Vijayakumar were members of the TDB in 2019 when the looting of gold artefacts were detected leading to the arrest of many. A
Padmakumar, who was TDB president in 2019, reportedly told investigators that the decision to hand over gold plates for electroplating was a collective board responsibility.
Shankardas has also approached the Supreme Court to seek the expunging of adverse remarks made against him by the High Court during the hearing of another bail application in the case.
A businessman has reportedly told the SIT that the prime accused Unnikrishnan Potti had close links with D Mani, an antique collector based in Chennai.
The businessman has also reportedly claimed that the deal happened in Thiruvananthapuram in 2020 between Mani, Unnikrishnan Potti and a top official linked to Sabarimala.
