Kochi: One Rameez of Aluva was arrested for abetment to suicide of his lover Sona Eldhose, 23, near Muvattupuzha, Manorama reported.
Police are planning to book Raneez’s relatives who were at their house where Sona was kept in captivity and assaulted.
Police have acted based on the dying declaration left behind by Sona.
Sona was found hanging from the roof of her house by her mother in Kothamangalam in Muvattupuzha on Saturday, Manorama reported.
The body was cremated after post mortem.
Sona was in a relationship with her college mate Rameez under whose compulsion she was going to marry him after embracing Islam after one year due to the death of her father, her brother Basil said.
It was during the waiting period Rameez was arrested from a lodge under the Immoral Traffic Act. This led to Sona changing her mind not to convert to Islam. She was willing to marry him without changing her religion in a register office. Rameez agreed to it and lured her to Aluva where she was kept in captivity and assaulted in his house where his parents and sister were present. When she agreed to embrace Islam, Rameez put forward more stringent conditions. Later, he said he no longer loved her and suggested she end her life, the reports said.
