Kochi: Militants attacked a train in Balochistan in Pakistan taking a number of passengers hostage, BBC reported.
There were over 400 passengers in the
Jaffar Express Train going to Peshawar from Quetta.
The separatist group bombed the track before taking the train under its control.
At least 16 militants have been killed and 104 passengers rescued as of Wednesday morning, the reports said.
Seventeen passengers who were injured have been hospitalised.
The militants had threatened to kill hostages if authorities did not release Baloch political prisoners within 48 hours, the reports said.
There were over 100 army personnel travelling from Quetta on the train.
Countries including Pakistani, UK, US have designated BLA as a terrorist outfit which has been fighting for freedom for about a decade.
