Kochi: In a shocking incident, one woman was killed and 36 injured, some of them seriously, in a suspected explosion at a religious convention at Kalamassery in Kerala on Sunday, media reports said.
The suspected blast took place on the concluding day of the three day prayer meeting of the Jehovah’s Witnesses attended by over 2000 faithfuls, the reports said.
Nine people who suffered critical injuries have been shifted to Sunrise Hospital at Kakkanad, the reports said
Burn surgeons from Kottayam Government Medical College have reached Kalamassery Medical College for providing expert medical care to the injured, the reports said.
Atleast three blasts occurred inside the hall Zamra International Convention and Exhibition Centre, media reports quoting witnesses said.
A NIA team from Kochi has started an investigation into the incident.
Investigation agencies have recovered IED materials in tiffin boxes from the location, the reports said.
