Police plea to cancel actor Dileep’s bail

Kochi: The Crime Branch has moved the Kerala High Court seeking cancellation of actor abuse case accused Dileep’s bail.
Earlier, the trial court had rejected the plea following which the Crime Branch had approached the High Court challenging the lower court order.
Rejecting the plea, the trial court had in April said that the prosecution had failed to prove its claim that the actor had violated bail conditions imposed on him by the Kerala High Court while releasing him after his 85-days stay in jail.
The trial court said that the prosecution could not prove the allegations made by director Balachandra Kumar against Dileep in December, 2021.
After the release of Dileep from jail, 20 witnesses had turned hostile. The Crime Branch accused Dileep of influencing them.
Dileep was arrested on July 10 in connection with the abduction and abuse of a famous south Indian actor in Kochi on February 17, 2017. The perpetrators led by prime accused Pulsar Suni had taken video footage of the molestation of the actor.
Soon the prime accused Pulsar Suni and others were arrested. Their questioning led to the arrest of Dileep. Pulsar Suni said that he had done it at the direction of Dileep who had enmity with the actor.
As the hearing was coming to an end in the trial court, director Balachandra Kumar came out with allegations that he was a witness to Dileep watching the objectionable videos in his house in Aluva near Kochi.
Balachandra Kumar submitted many digital evidences to the crime branch following which another case was registered against him.
Investigation of this case led to unearthing of more evidence against Dileep.
