Kochi: Cricketer turned politician and former Pakistan Premier Imran Khan is unable to resist praising India and this time it is the foreign policy.
Imran Khan commended India’s independent foreign policy and praised the External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar at a public meeting held at Lahore.
Imran hailed the confidence of India in buying oil from Russia despite the US issuing riders from having any connections with Moscow for its aggression on Ukraine.
He lambasted the western countries which criticised India for buying oil from Russia.
He also showed a video clip of a programme participated by Jaishankar at Slovakia when he gave a convincing reply on India’s stand.
Khan, who led Pakistan to World Cup victory in 1992, said that both the countries attained freedom simultaneously, but India was able to adopt a foreign policy that was beneficial for the people.
He blamed Prime Minister Shebaz Sharif’s government for budging to the pressures of the US not to buy oil from Russia.
He said during his tenure talks were being held with Russia to get oil at a budget rate when the new government came to power and succumbed to US pressure.
