Kochi: The BJP has accused a Kerala government-owned company of hiring a top lawyer to rescue State Chief Minister and his daughter Veen facing financial irregularities charges by Income tax department, media reports said.
BJP Kerala chief K Surendran alleged that Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC) was misusing public funds by paying Rs 25 lakh to the lawyer to fight the cases against Pinarayi Vijayan and daughter Veena.
They were getting special treatment from the CPM which had a clear policy not to protect leaders and their relatives facing allegations, Surendran told media in North Kerala while
leading the National Democratic Alliance’s (NDA) ‘Kerala Padayatra from Kasaragod which started on January 27.
KSIDC had shares in Cochin Minerals and Rutile Ltd (CMRL) which was caught by the Income Tax department for paying money to Veena’s Exalogic Solutions even as it had not offered any services.
The Income Tax department had also stumbled upon evidence of CMRL paying money to Pinarayi and several political leaders in Kerala, the reports said.
