Rajeev Chandrasekhar new Kerala BJP chief

Kochi:Former Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar will be the new chief of the BJP in Kerala which is going to polls in about one year, media reports said.
The party’s central leadership suggested his name as the president of the party’s Kerala unit which is presently led by K Surendran.
The core committee meeting of the party, chaired by the central observer, Pralhad Joshi, gave nod to his name at Thiruvananthapuram.
Chandrasekhar is expected to submit his nomination at the BJP state committee office on Sunday, even as there is less possibility of a contest for the post.
The official declaration will be made after the state council meeting on Monday.
Names of party leaders M T Ramesh and Shobha Surendran were in there in the air to get the post.
Chandrasekhar came close to defeating
Shashi Tharoor of Congress in Thiruvananthapuram in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections which he lost by 16,077 votes.
Chandrashekhar, 60, studied electrical engineering in Karnataka and obtained a master’s degree in computer science from the Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago, in 1988. He was part of the architectural team that designed the i486 processor for Intel where he worked from 1988 to 1991.
