Kochi: Release of five British youth arrested on suspicion of explosives offences and terrorism on bail has irritated US President Donald Trump.
The British youths who are suspects in the alleged RAF Fairford terror attack plot in Gloucestershire were released on bail for insufficient terror materials seized from them, media reports said.
The Counter-terror police said that a quantity of petrol but no explosive devices were found in the vans.
They were detained near the airbase which was used by US bombers to launch airstrikes against Iran.
Trump had told reporters at the White House that he was disappointed over the decision to grant bail to the suspects.
He said: “These were serious people, seriously bad people and they should not have done that yet.”
Earlier on Tuesday, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said in a television interview that the suspected plot “clearly involves the hand of a foreign actor”.
UK counter-terrorism Policing Assistant Commissioner Laurence Taylor said the five men on police bail will remain under investigation and must adhere to strict conditions while we continue our work.
