Kochi: Two great cricketers Rohit Sharma, 37, and Virat Kohli, 35, bid adieu to the T20 International in a glorious manner winning the world title of the format at Barbados.
The 5.9” tall hard hitters chose the victory day as the ideal time to exit the format. Former captain Kohli announced it shortly after the match while Rohit disclosed it at the press conference after the victory.
“This was my last game as well. No better time to say goodbye. I wanted this (trophy) badly. It’s very hard to put into words,” the right arm off break bowler Rohit told reporters.
Rohit holds the record of maximum centuries and highest scores of 4,231 in 159 T20I. He also tops by making 3,750 as opener in 124 matches.The right arm medium pacer Virat tops making maximum runs of 3,076 innumber three position on 80 occasions.
Rohit debuted in the maiden T20 World Cup in 2007 which was won by India while Kohli, the third highest run-scorer in T20I, debuted on 12 June 2010 against Zimbabwe.
