Kochi: The Supreme Court of India on Friday listed petitions on deferment of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) for hearing on November 26, media reports said .
A three-judge issued notice to the Election Commission of India (EC) on a batch of petitions filed by the Kerala Government, CPM, IUML seeking deferment of the SIR process rolls which could clash with the local bodies elections.
The SIR process is scheduled from November 4 to December 4, 2025. The local bodies elections have been scheduled for December 9 and December 11, 2025.
Kerala Government claimed simultaneous conduct of the SIR and elections would be a “near impossibility”.
SIR exercise requires services of 1,76,000 personnel from government and quasi-governmental services and 68,000 police, it submitted.
