Kochi: At Least 121 people were killed and 28 injured in a stampede in a congregationorganised by a self styled godman at Hathras in Uttar Pradesh, media reports said.The event was organised by Narayan Saakar Hari alias ‘Bhole Baba’ who is at large, the reports said.
The Police failed to trace the godman and others after searching Ram Kutir Charitable Trust in Mainpuri district.The Chief Minister Yogi Adithyanath has ordered a probe into the incident and has directed officials to ensure proper treatment to the injured.
The stampede took place around 3.30 pm on Tuesday when the godman was leaving the venue. Mukhya sevadar’ Devprakash Madhukar and other organisers have been named in the FIR.Bhole Baba is a former cop and took voluntary retirement in 1990, the reports said.
