Vande Bharat arrives in south

Kochi: Karnataka becomes first state to run train under ‘Bharat Gaurav’ on a day when South India’s first Vande Bharat Express was flagged off from Mysuru to Chennai by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Bengaluru.

Fifth one to start operation in the country, Vande Bharat will redefine train travel in the sector where conventional trains have become outdated due to archaic technology.

“It will enhance connectivity between the industrial hub of Chennai, the Tech & Startup hub of Bengaluru and the famous tourist city of Mysuru,” the Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement, media reports said.

“The Chennai-Mysuru Vande Bharat Express will boost connectivity as well as commercial activities. It will also enhance ‘Ease of Living.’ Glad to have flagged off this train from Bengaluru,” Modi tweeted, the reports said.

The Karnataka government operated ‘Bharat Gaurav Kashi Darshan’ train was inaugurated by the Prime Minister. The ‘Bharat Gaurav’ programme is aimed at promoting spiritual tourism in Kashi, Ayodhya and Prayagraj by the state and the railways.

“I would like to compliment Karnataka for being the first state to take up the Bharat Gaurav Kashi Yatra train. This train brings Kashi and Karnataka closer. Pilgrims and tourists will be able to visit Kashi, Ayodhya and Prayagraj with ease.” The plan is to showcase country’s rich cultural heritage and historical places to the global tourists.
