Kochi: A 91-year-old woman fought out a 36-year-old history sheeter when he tried to rape her at Madaikonam in Irinjalakuda in Thrissur.
While escaping he snatched the golden chain from her neck, reports said.
The incident occurred a few days back when the accused tried to molest the elderly woman who resisted him with all her courage. While escaping he managed to snatch the 18 gms golden chain from her.
The woman informed the police that the intruder was about 45 years old and based on the input provided by her the cops began an investigation.
After a prolonged investigation based on the electronic data and video footage of the CCTV cameras in the area, the police zeroed in on the 36-year-old accused identified as Vijay Kumar of Kizhakkancheri in Palakkad.
Police found that there were a number of cases like robbery and rape pending against him in different stations.
He was living with his wife and two children in a rented house.
The police have identified the shop where the gold was sold.
