Kochi: Head coach of national cricket team, Gautam Gambhir has reportedly received death threats from “ISIS Kashmir,” media reports said on Thursday.
Gambhir, who is an ex-party MP, lodged a complaint with Delhi Police on Wednesday.
He formally requested the registration of a First Information Report (FIR), media reports quoting Rajinder Nagar Police Station and the DCP Central Delhi, said.
Gambhir has urged law enforcement authorities to ensure his and family’s safety.
The threat came in the form of two emails on April 22, one in the afternoon and the other in the evening.
Gambhir faced such threats in November 2021 when he was an MP.
Condemning the terror attack in Pahalgam, Gambhir expressed sorrow on X.
Gambhir wrote, “Praying for the families of the deceased. Those responsible for this will pay. India will strike.” The attack in Pahalgam is among the deadliest since the 2019 Pulwama terror attack.
