Kochi: Tamil Nadu Minister Palanivel
Thiagarajan was stripped of Finance and Human Resources Management portfolios in a reshuffle conducted by the Chief Minister M K Stalin of DMK today.
These portfolios were given to another minister Thangam Thennarasu. Palanivel Thiagarajan will be the new Minister for Information Technology and Digital Services.
The Industries portfolio has been taken off from Minister Thennarasu and has been given to the newly inducted Minister T R B Raaja.
A banker-turned-third generation politician, Palanivel Thiagarajan is a popular minister in Stalin Cabinet and has the reputation of speaking his mind out and is opposed to right wing politics.
Rajan was in the news when the BJP released two purported audio clips of Thiagarajan talking about the dirty money ammassed by Chief Minister’s son Udhayanidhi Stalin and son-in-law Sabareesan. The clips were released by BJP state president K Annamalai.
However, Thiagarajan has denied it to be his voice. Thiagarajan took B.tech from National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli and pursued higher studies at University of Buffalo and MIT Sloan School of Management.
He is the son of the late P T R Palanivel Rajan, who was a minister and speaker in Tamil Nadu. His grandfather, P T Rajan, was the Chief Minister of Madras Presidency from 4 April 1936, to 24 August 1936.
