NIA to move against PFI leaders

Kochi: The NIA will file lookout notices against Abdul Sathar and C Rauf of the Popular Front of India (PFI) for their alleged role in terror activities in the country, media reports said.

The notice will be served to Sattar, PFI State General Secretary and Rauf, secretary, in the NIA court Kochi once the agency receives a report on the evidence seized against them, media reports said.

Sathar, who is the third accused and Rauf ,12th accused in the the terror cases, had called the hartal seeking the release of the PFI leaders arrested across the country, the reports said.

They controlled the hartal operations from underground. The NIA has received reports of the duo making plans to escape abroad to evade arrest, the reports said.

The NIA accused them of conspiring anti national activities and alluring youth to join terror organisations through social media. Sattar belonged to Karunagappally in Kollam while Rauf hailed from Pattambi in Palakkad.

NIA is questioning 11 PFI activists who have been released in NIA custody for interrogation by the court until September 30.

Kerala police have also initiated action against the two in connection with the violence unleashed by the PFI in the state.
