Kochi: A 23-year-old unwed woman delivered her child in the washroom of her
hostel room shared by five others who were unaware of her pregnancy in Kochi today, media reports said.
The woman showed no signs of pregnancy to her roommates living in the hostel in old market road.
When she did not return from the washroom for a long time, the roommates forced open the door and found her with her newborn child in her arms.
They alerted the Police who took the mother and the newborn to Ernakulam General hospital where their condition was stated to be normal.
She has not made any complaint against a person from Kollam who had fathered the child.
The Kollam native woman was working in a private organisation, the reports said.
In a similar incident, an unwed woman delivered her child in the washroom of her flat and killed the newborn about three hours after the birth in Kochi on Friday.
She too has not made any complaint
against the person from Thrissur who fathered the child. She has been arrested.
