US extends ceasefire

Kochi: The US will extend the ceasefire with Iran following a request from Pakistan, President Donald Trump said, adding that the blockade of Iranian ports will continue.
The White House has now confirmed Vice President JD Vance’s trip to Pakistan for peace negotiations has been cancelled.
Vance was expected to travel to reach Islamabad for the second time on Wednesday, BBC reported.
The cancellation comes after President Trump announced he had agreed to a request to extend the US-Iran ceasefire indefinitely.
President Donald Trump posted on social media that Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir made an unexpected request to extend the ceasefire.
Trump has not offered a timeline, and has eliminated any ticking clock to come up with a solution.
Iran is undecided on sending a delegation to Pakistan for talks with the US.
Iran considers the blockade of Iranian ports by the US as an act of war. It is likely to remain an impediment to any negotiations going forward.
